H., Tapton Close, Tapton House Road, Sheffield, BROOKS, R., Ivyhurst, Charlton Drive, Sale, Cheshire, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Feb. 16, 1932, No. 4613. [Classes 38 (iii) and 38 (v).] A motor current-limit relay L, controlling the sequential operation of resistance contactors OCR1 .. OCR4, has, in addition to a main operating coil OCL, an auxiliary operating element AOCL which varies the relation between the magnetic flux and the current in the coil OCL to an extent which may be varied. As shown the auxiliary operating element AOCL is a coil on the relay L opposing the main coil OCL, and its. energization is varied by means of a controller MC which removes or inserts steps of a series resistance RS. In a modification the auxiliary element is a magnetic member adapted to be moved in proximity to the core of the relay L by means of a pedal. In a further modification the relative positions of the core of the relay L, and a sleeve carrying its winding OCL, can be varied.
