Abstract
543,910. Dynamic braking of A.C. motors. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and TAYLOR, J. R. March 28, 1941, No. 4213. [Class 38 (iii)] In the electro-dynamic braking of A.C. motors, by D.C. supplied to the motor M through a rectifier Rf when the A.C. power supply is discontinued and through a braking controller BR, the duration of the D.C. braking is determined by delayed action contacts tc associated with and operated (subject to the delay action) by the moving parts of the braking contactor itself. The contacts may, for example, be retarded by a dashpot and connected to the armature of the braking contactor by a spring. When both the forward F and reverse R contactors are in the off position the main circuit of the winding crw of a braking control relay which controls the energization of the braking controller is broken, as shown, but an auxiliary maintaining circuit through its back contacts crc1 and and through the delay contacts tc is available therefor, when, after the interval to ensure adequate braking, the contacts tc open, the relay winding crw is de-energized, the contacts crc2 are opened and the braking contactor opened.
