Abstract

247,607. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Jones, B. W.). Feb. 14, 1925, [Convention date]. Drawings to Specification. Motors, controlling.-For stopping a reversible electric motor, as in the operation of lifts, an electromagnet which holds off a brake during movement is gradually weakened by insertion of resistance to an extent depending on the back electromotive force of the motor and on the magnitude of rheostatic braking in a short-circuit around the motor armature, with a time element depending on the arrangement of controlling relays. Full details of the sequence of operations are given in the Specification with the aid of a diagram showing a system of contactor and switch connections.
