Abstract

204,105. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., Hastings, H. C., and Watson, G. O. June 19, 1922. Master control systems.-In a motor control system comprising a motor controller driven by a pilot motor, means are provided for reducing the speed of the pilot motor and giving a definite stop at successive angular positions. In the arrangement. described, the, motor controller Y, Fig. 1, is operated by a pilot motor N provided with a rheostatic braking resistance 70 which is automatically rendered effective, prior to each stopping position, by an electromagnetic switch 69 a.nd a relay C subject to current limit retardation. A definite mechanical stop at each position of the controller Y is produced by a spring roller 2, Fig. 3, entering notches in a disc 3 integral with the controller drum. A master controller M in its first position sets the motor controller Y on full resistance starting connections, in its second position causes the motor controller to pass automatically through the rheostatic stages of starting with the motor in 'series, and in the third position determines similar stages with the motors in parallel. Specification 144,612 is referred to.
