Abstract
619,943. Electromagnets. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 29, 1944, No. .23856. Convention date, Nov. 29, 1943. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXXVII] In an electric switch operated -by fluidpressure, a valve 38 carrying an armature 44 is opened by energizing a winding 49. When the valve is fully open it is held by a permanent magnet 48 and the winding 49 is de-energized. Then a winding 67 or 71 is energized as the switch closes under normal or short-circuit conditions respectively. Either of the windings 67, 71, when energized, neutralizes the permanent magnet and allows the valve to reclose. Specifications 548,520 and 619.944, [both in Group XXXVII]. are referred to.
