Abstract
1,264,503. Windscreen cleaning systems. BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE A.G. March 28, 1969 [April 19, 1968], No.16426/69. Heading A4F. A control circuit for windscreen wiper and washer equipment comprises a multipole wiper switch 3 controlling a multispeed electric permanent magnet wiper motor 2, associated with a wiper parking switch 1, an optionally-operable switch 22 permitting the wiper motor 2 and a windscreen washer pump 20 to be operated together, a time delay relay 15 for delaying starting and stopping of the wiper motor 2 after starting and stopping of the washer pump 20, and a relay 7 having a coil 10 energized by the relay 15 to connect a wiper motor terminal 11 to the positive pole of a current source, and when de-energized connecting the terminal 11 to the negative pole via the parking switch 1. The wiper motor 2 is operable independently of the washer pump 20 at either of two speeds by setting the movable contact 4 of the switch 3 to connect either of two terminals 11 , 11<SP>1</SP> to the positive pole of the current supply. When the switch 3 is in the off position shown closure of the switch 22 energizes the washer pump 20 immediately, and after a time delay the relay 15 energizes the relay coil 10 to open contact 9 and close contact 8 of the relay 7 so that the wiper motor terminal 11 is disconnected from the negative pole and connected to the positive pole of the current source to energize the wiper motor 2. In an alternative embodiment the multipole wiper switch 3<SP>1</SP>, Fig.2 (not shown) and the changeover (7<SP>1</SP>) each has one movable contact only, and a pulse generator is provided for energizing the wiper motor intermittently when desired.
