Class 38(3) An induction motor A has a hydraulic servo device D introduced between the driver's control lever H and liquid rotor resistance F, the stator winding of the motor being supplied with regulated direct-current for braking. When the braking-current exceeds a pre-determined value corresponding with the optimum value of rotor resistance for the prevailing speed, a relay C responds to open contactor G. A motor driving a pump which circulates oil in the servo device D is thus de-energized, so preventing further reduction of the rotor resistance. A powermeasuring device (not shown) is connected across a shunt B in the braking circuit, and this device controls the supply of current to the coil of the relay C.
