Abstract

348,934. R÷ntgen-ray tubes. SEABROOK, H., 31, Bedford Street, London.- (M³ller Akt.-Ges. C. H. F. ; 93, Hammersbrookstrasse, Hamburg, Germany.) June 24, 1930, No. 19240. [Class 39 (i).] In a R÷ntgen-ray tube having an incandescent cathode and a collector, which are connected to a disperser through a device such as a resistance in order that the area of the elongated focal spot may vary automatically in accordance with the load, the narrow shape of the focal spot is retained at high loads by the use of a collector of elongated outline which is mounted around a plate-shaped or flattened cathode from which a disperser projects axially. As shown, a metallic dispersing pin C, Fig. 2, is mounted in a spiral cathode 1 which is connected to a heating transformer by a wire 7 and by a wire 8 through a flattened collector 2. In a modification, the cathode consists of a ring- shaped helix 15, Fig. 6, the ends of which are connected to tubes 16.
