Filaments; supports for.-The filament of a thermionic valve or rectifying tube consists of several parts which are so arranged that the electrodynamic forces acting on these parts substantially neutralize one another. A filament may consist of two parts 6, 7, arranged parallel with one another, connected at one end to a conductor 9 and at the other end to a metal clip 1. This clip has two limbs 3, 4 also parallel with one another and with the parts of the filament. The distance between the wires 3, 4 must be #3 times the distance between the filaments 6, 7. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also describes a construction in which a filament consisting of several parts may have these parts arranged parallel with one another and so disposed as to pass through the points of an equilateral polygon having an even number of sides. The Specification further states that filaments according to the invention may be used for electric incandescent lamps. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
