Abstract
345,807. Pipe joints. BROMFORD TUBE CO., Ltd., SPENCER, R. W., and PARKINSON, J., Wheelwright Road, Erdington, Birmingham. March 18, 1930, No. 8641. [Class 99 (i).] The flanged ends of pipes have inclined surfaces 4 which engage with corresponding inclined surfaces on a split clamping ring 7 so that the ends of the pipes are drawn together when the bolts 8 are tightened, packing being compressed in recesses 5 which do not extend to the periphery of the pipe flanges. A packing ring 6 of soft or hard metal has V-ridges of greater angle than the recesses 50 in which they engage. Other forms of packing are shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 5.
