Abstract
345,795. Door closing springs and checks. BLACKMORE, J. H., 117, George Road, Erdington, and BLACKMORE, F. A., 343, Victoria Road, Aston, both in Birming. ham. March 8, 1930, No. 7576. [Class 65 (i).] A wire coil spring a<1>, Fig. 2, has one end a<3> clamped to a bracket b on the door post, and the other end a<4> extends across the door to engage slidably with a fitting c on the door. The part a3 of the wire may be continued round the bolt to form another coil spring and arm exactly similar to a<1>, a4. In a modification, the part a<3> of the wire lies against the door post and is clamped to it by a plate. In a further modification, the end of the arm a4, Fig. 8, is pivoted to a link e pivoted to the door. The initial strain in the spring may be varied in the constructions shown in Figs. 2 and 8 by adjusting the bolt b2 in a slot in the bracket b ; it may be so arranged that the spring is unstrained when the door is slightly open, so that the final closing of the door is checked. The parts on the door and the door post may be interchanged.
