342,660. Centrifugal -governors. JUNKERS, H., 21, Kaiserplatz, Dessau, Anhalt, Germany. Nov. 1, 1929, No. 33303. Convention date, Nov. 9, 1928. [Class 57.] In a governor for internal-combustion engines, particularly for road vehicles, an auxiliary device is arranged which when changing to higher speeds reduces the deflection of the member adjusted by the governor. The governor muff 3 is connected by a bell crank 4 and rod 5 to the rack and pinion 6, 7 operating the throttle or other means of controlling the fuel supply. The loading spring 2 on the governor is adjusted by moving the pedal 11 which is connected by lever 12 to the bell crank 10. A stop 14 is connected by the lever 13 to the bell crank 10 and coacts with the stop 15 on the rod 5. The governor is set to allow the maximum permissible load to be put on the engine at low speeds. To increase the speed the spring 2 is compressed and at higher speeds as the stop 14 approaches the stop 15 the maximum amount of fuel that can be supplied to the engine is progressively reduced, thus reducing the maximum load that can be put on the engine and prevent any overstrain. In a modification the link 13 is arranged on an extended arm of the bell crank 10 and the stop limits the travel of the governor muff.
