Abstract
338,428. Electrolux, Ltd., (Assignees of Inventia Patent-Verwertungs-Ges.). Jan. 15, 1929, [Convention date]. Casings, foundations, and supports.-In a vacuum cleaner the motor unit consisting of a motor and fan is resiliently and freely suspended in an outer casing by means of rods and the suspension system may be such as to insulate the motor unit electrically from the casing. In the form shown in Fig. 1, three resilient rods 17 of spring steel or insulating material are secured in lugs 16 on the motor housing and pass through lugs 20 on a ring 18 of rubber or the material known under the registered Trade Mark " Bakelite " fixed in the outer casing 10. Axial movement of the motor and fan is prevented by insulating tubes 23, Fig. 3, on the rods 17, or by clamping screws 21 buried in the lugs 20 beneath insulating plugs 22 or by both, as shown. In an alternative arrangement, the rods are secured at one end only to the motor housing and at the other to the ring 18, giving an overhung resilient support, and in another form the lugs 20 are dispensed with, the rods being secured to the ring.
