Dec. 11, 1931, No. 34393.: Convention date, Dec. 12, 1930. [Class 35.] The motor or motor-fan unit of a vacuum cleaner is supported in the outer casing by separate resilient arms each having one end bearing against the outer casing and the other against the unit or its housing and extending around the unit in a circumferential direction for a considerable distance. In the form shown, the motor 15 and fan 16 are suspended in the casing 10 by means of arms 17, 18, the ends of which engage in recesses 21, 22 of the motor housing, and may have abutments 24, 25 to prevent excessive resiliency of the unit. The arms 17, 18 may be integral with a ring 12, preferably of insulating material, mounted between the main part of the cleaner casing and the end cover 14, or the arms may extend from the motor housing and their free ends engage the ring 12 or the casing 10. As a further alternative, the arms need not be integral with either part.
