338,026. Watson, Laidlaw, &. Co., Ltd., and Watt, H. Dec. 9, 1929. Driving, supporting, balancing.-A centrifugal machine on the spindle 10 is driven by a motor on the spindle 1 through slip-coupling and a universal coupling arranged so that the former coupling is unaffected by relative displacement of the driving and centrifugal spindles. The carrier 2 fixed to the motor spindle 1 carries slippers 3 co-operating with the pulley 5 fixed to the short shaft 4 mounted in the motor casing. A disc 6 on the shaft 4 is fitted with studs 7 engaging flexible discs 8 which are also engaged by studs 9 rotating with the centrifugal spindle 10.
