Abstract

355,581. Centrifugal machines. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR, 8, Fleminggatan, Stockholm. Oct. 27, 1930, No. 32210. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1929. [Class 23.] Driving.-A centrifuge shaft 5 is driven by the worm wheel 4 keyed to the shaft 2 which is coupled through a clutch to the motor shaft 6; the members of the clutch are automatically coupled together when the motor 8 is started, or when the motor is connected to the frame of the centrifuge. In the form shown, the disc 9 of the clutch coupling is rigidly connected to the motor shaft 6 and carries friction shoes 11 mounted to turn on pins 10. The other element 12 of the clutch mounted on the worm wheel shaft has a ring-shaped surface 13 outside the shoes 11, which is engaged by the shoes when the motor starts. Elastic elements connect the shoes to draw them together while the parts are being assembled. In a modification a lamination coupling is used and an elastic device is arranged behind one part so that elastic contact is established between the parts when the motor is mounted on the frame. The casing parts 15, 16, 17 may be removed separately to permit the removal of the motor and the coupling, and the part 19 of the centrifuge casing is detachable.
