Abstract

666,018. Friction clutches. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR. July 14, 1949 [July 14, 1948], No. 18591/49. Class 80 (ii). The centrifugally-engaged shoes 9 of a friction clutch for a centrifuge are carried by pivots 10 and located by stops 13 so that they can be replaced through an aperture in the centrifuge frame 3 without dismantling the clutch and its associated parts. The centrifuge shaft 2 is driven from a motor shaft 20 through a flexible coupling comprising an intermediate flexible disc 18 engaged by driving and driven pins 17, 16, the driven part of the coupling driving an inner clutch member 8, 11 carrying the shoes 9. The centrifuge driving shaft 1 carries the driven part 6 of the clutch, the periphery of which may be engaged by a brake 23 mounted in a frame cover 22.
