[Class 58] A grain huller comprises means for feeding grain to a rotatable impeller 25, a ring-shaped member 40 surrounding the impeller with its inner surface spaced for the periphery of the impeller, means for rotating the impeller at high speed to cause the grain to impinge on the inner surface of member 40, and means for imparting to member 40 an undulatory rotating movement. In the apparatus shown grain is fed to a hopper 36 which is adjustably mounted in the cover 34 of a container 13, such adjustment serving to regulate an opening between the lower edge of the feed spout 33 of the hopper and a surface 31 on the impeller. The impeller, which is mounted on a shaft 20, comprises lower and upper discs 25, 26, spaced apart by curved vanes 28, Fig. 8, spaced around its periphery. Grooves 80 in the vanes assist in arranging the grain in end-on relation as it is impelled by centrifugal force on to a rubber insert 41 removably mounted on member 40. The lower surface of member 40 is undulated and has teeth 46 which are engaged by two idle gears 47 mounted on the casing and by a similarly mounted driving gear 50. In the casing are also mounted four spring-pressed balls which engage the outer surface of member 40 and centralize it. Gear 50 and shaft 20 are driven by a motor 63, the drive to gear 50 being through a speed reducing unit. The grain after impinging on the insert 41 passes on to a sloping floor 14 and passes from the container through an opening 15.
