Driving, supporting, balancing. - A centrifugal machine on the spindle 9 is driven by a motor on the spindle 1 through a slipcoupling and a universal coupling so aranged that the slipcoupling is unaffected by relative displacement of the driving and the centrifugal spindles. The carrier 2 fixed to the motor shaft 1 carries slippers 3 co-operating with the pulley 4 which can rotate on the spindle 1, but cannot move axially or laterally on the spindle. Studs 5 on the pulley engage flexible discs 6 which are also engaged by studs 7 on a member 8 fixed to the shaft 9 of the centrifugal machine.
