Abstract

336,083. Tasker, P. H., and Booth, ESept. 27, 1929. Winches ; guiding ropes off during unwinding- -A winch comprises a framework in which is rotatably mounted a single main pulley wheel 3 having a V-shaped or similar groove which is configured in accordance with the individual component ropes or cables of which the rope or cable itself is constituted so as firmly to grip the latter, guide pulleys 17, 18 between which, and once only around the pulley 3, the rope or cable is adapted to pass, and an irreversible reduction gear such as a worm or worm wheel for rotating the pulley 3 from one or more crank handles. The periphery of the pulley 17 is in vertical alignment with the centre of support of a cradle provided by arms 26. Guide members 22 and a plough 25 are provided for directing the rope.
