Abstract

Laying or guiding ropes on or off during winding or unwinding.-In apparatus for lowering loads comprising one or two drums to and from which is led a rope d both ends of which are free, said rope encircling less than the entire circumference of the drum in apparatus incorporating a single drum, Fig. 4, and, in the case of apparatus incorporating a pair of drums, Fig. 1, making one or more turns around the semi-circumferences of the drums, a roller h influenced by a spring presses the rope against the drum or against the leading-on drum of two drums, and a brake f controls the rotation of the drum or drums. The grooves in the drum may be V-shaped, Fig. 7. Pulleys k, Fig. 4, may lead the rope on to and away from the drum.
