Abstract

404,894. Rollers for moulding plastic materials. LEFNAER, O., 2, K÷nigseggasse, Vienna. Aug. 15, 1933, No. 22767. Convention date, Aug. 29, 1932. [Class 87 (ii).] Rollers for treating clay and other plastic materials have a wire, wirerope, chain, or a similar resistant flexible material wound around their peripheries to form a kneading surface. Fig. 1 shows a roller wrapped with closely-abutting coils of wire or wire-rope 2 which may also have end flanges to prevent lateral movement of the rope. Fig. 2 shows a roller provided with grooves 3 to receive the links of a chain to be wound thereon. Fig. 3 shows the rope or chain windings spaced apart so as to alternate with the corresponding windings on the co-operating roller. The rope or chain may also be applied to the periphery of a roller provided with longitudinally-extending peripheral slots so that it divides the latter into skeleton cells. The co-operating rollers of a pair may have the windings oppositely wound or of opposite pitch or they may both run in the same direction. Alternatively, only one roller of a pair need be provided with the flexible windings.
