Abstract
186,281. Cans, A. J. M. B., (known as Cans, P.). Nov. 21, 1921, [Convention date]. Mechanical and like toys. - Comprisee a rope runner or friction block for use as a fire-escape, or for lowering goods, or as a toy, in which the rope passes round two pulleys c on axles b fixed in side plates a, and round a movable pulley d which produces a braking effect corresponding to the weight of the load lowered, the movable pulley d being carried in slots one of which is open at the end so that the pulley may be swung back to allow a bight of the rope to be inserted between the fixed rollers and round the movable roller, thus avoiding the necessity of threading the end of the rope through the nmner.
