Boat-lowering gear &c.-To enable the lowering of the boat to be controlled evenly by one pull alone should the other pull be slackened for any reason, both pulls c, c' are passed round grooves on a single wheel A formed by providing angular projections B, B\ either oppositely disposed or arranged in staggered relation. The ropes are constrained to keep in circumferential contact with the grooves by passing them round pairs of guide pins D - - D<111> arranged either at fixed points on the bed plate or arranged on a swinging bridle.
