Abstract

549,027. Machines for making ropes &c. LARMUTH, J. H. July 3, 1941, No. 8392. [Class 109] Bobbin hoisting mechanism for a stranding machine in which bobbins are hoisted into cradles journalled in a rotary member comprises a number of bobbin platforms 2 situated vertically beneath the cradles 37 and slidable on fixed vertical guide posts 7. The platforms 2 are lifted by chains 9 on cables which pass over chain wheels 8 or pulleys provided on snatch blocks 5 connected to the platforms 2 and' over chain wheels 18 or around a winding barrel upon a shaft 20 provided with a hand wheel 41. To lock the wheels 18 and chains 9 in any position a brake drum 21 is provided upon the shaft 20 and co-operates with a brake band 22, one end of which is connected to a hand lever 25 which in turn can be locked in various positions by a pawl 27 engaging a ratchet rack 28.
