Abstract
335,598. British Dardelet Threadlock (D.D.G.) Corporation, Ltd. Nov. 27, 1928, [Convention date]. Locking nuts and bolts. - In screw-andnut gearing of the form in which a radially acting wedging grip or pressure results from engagement of the tops of the threads on one member with inclined or like surfaces between the threads on the mating member, there is provided, at the base or foot of such inclines, a recess increasing the latitude of radial clearance, thereby allowing greater tolerance in manufacture. As shown in Fig 2, the recesses e<1>, e<2> provide a clearance T, the top s<1>, s<2> of the threads being deformed by the pressure as the final position, Fig. 3, is reached. The wedging effect may be such that a nut permanently maintains its grip on the bolt through the parts secured thereby may, owing to wear &c., cease to fit. The top of the threads and the recesses may be dissimilarly shaped or they may be, more or less, a close fit in the initial position. The recess may be formed on one member only, the mating members being formed with a plain inclined or cylindrical surface between the threads.
