Abstract

305,278. Hawthorn, H. Oct. 14, 1927. Locking nuts. -A lock nut consisting of two inseparable portions interconnected by axial stem b on one portion a which engages and fits in an undercut recess d in the other portion c is designed so that the mutually engaging profiles of the stem and the recess are substantially globular. In assembling the portion e is formed with a taper which is expanded into position and excess of metal is removed either before or during the tapping operation. Preferably the major part of the thread is located in the portion a.
