Piston packing.-In a split or segmental packing-ring 3 for a piston or piston-valve, in which expansion is limited by undivided rings 6, 6a in grooves in the sides of the packing, the restraining-ring 6 at the high-pressure side is provided with tongues 8, which cover the splits in the ring 3. The ring 6<a> may also be provided with tongues. The ring 3 may be of cast-iron and the rings 6, 6<a> of steel, brass tongues 8 being brazed to the latter. One end of the ring 3 may be provided with a tongue 10 entering a recess in the other end of the ring.
