Abstract

332,770. Jones, F. C. Aug. 10, 1929. Internal stoppers. - A closure for hot-water bottles and the like comprises a soft or semi-hard rubber plug 5 formed with projecting lugs 6, Fig. 1, or a screw-threaded portion 13, Fig. 5, for locking engagement with the inner wall of a hard rubber socket 1 fixed in the neck of the bottle, the spindle 7 of the plug being provided with an operating handle 8. In a modified construction, the socket and the plug are formed with plain contacting faces, and the spindle is threaded to engage in a tapped hole in a bridge piece in the socket closure or in a wing nut adapted to bear on the upper surface of the socket. A semi hard rubber plug may be formed with a circumferential recess to accommodate a soft rubber ring.
