Abstract
261,340. Linner, J. July 19, 1926. Stoppers, expanding plug.-In expanding plug stoppers for bottles in which the plug 1, Fig. 1, is pressed against a body member 4 having a flanged periphery by which it is seated on the bottle mouth, the nut-engaging portion of screwbolt 2 is of a diameter greater than that of the aperture in the body member through which the bolt passes to prevent the bolt from dropping into the bottle, the bolt being introduced laterally into the body through an aperture 8. The bottom of the body 4, Fig. 5, is formed with a radial slot 9 wide enough to pass only a narrow neck 10, formed on the bolt beneath its head which is of greater diameter than its unthreaded portion and the nut 3 is actuated by a bow 6 hinged to it at 5.
