Abstract
184,577. Try & Son, Ltd., T., and Ross, A. A. May 17, 1921. Stoppers, screw. - A stopper for petrol cans &c. comprises a screw cap a containing a metal disc c of smaller diameter than the threads of the cap and a compressible washer b adapted to engage the screw-threads and thereby retain the disc c in position in the cap, the cap and disc being so formed that one has a central bearing upon the other to cause the disc to press evenly with its periphery upon the washer bearing against the rim of the neck of the receptacle. The disc c may be of concavoconvex form, Fig. 1, with or without a boss f bearing on the inner face of the cap, which face may be made slightly convex to meet the convexity of the disc. The cap may be formed with a pip a<1>, Fig. 4, to bear on a flat disc c or on a concavo-convex disc with a central depression, or a loose ball may be used instead of the pip. In another form, the washer b and a flat disc c are connected by a rivet the head of which bears on the inner face of the cap.
