Abstract

250,793. Parker, W. R. June 30, 1925. Cap-stoppers, bayonetjoint; screw mechanism above closure. - In a closure for hot-water bottle and other containers, and comprising a cap b secured to the neck of the container by a bayonet-joint connection, and an internal closure member actuated by a screw i which, when rotated in the cap b, presses down the closure member on the mouth of the bottle and lifts the cap to bind the engaging bayonet-joint elements, the actuating screw is secured to the closure member so that when the screw is rotated to lock or unlock the closure the closure member is positively displaced. The screw i is rotatably secured to a pressure plate d<1> formed with outwardly projecting tongues adapted to engage in depressions in the cap b to prevent rotation of the plate and with downwardly extending tongues g which retain a packing ring f on a stopper member e secured to a plate e', the stopper mem. ber entering the bottle mouth whilst the packing f is compressed between the mouth and the plate d<1>. The inner ends of the bayonet-joint slots may be enlarged to provide a positive lock between the cap and neck.
