Abstract

329,365. Bailey, H. Feb. 13, 1929. Crucible furnaces.-In a crucible furnace comprising an upwardly tapering chamber 1 closed at the top by a removable cover 2 and having one or more waste gas flues 8 extending from the upper end, bearers 4 at the lower end separate the crucible chamber from an ashpit 6, to which air under pressure is supplied by conduits 9, and into which water is sprayed by pipes 7. The whole of the air from the conduits 9 passes through or across the ashpit before entering the crucible chamber. The furnace may be worked by natural draught when the door at the front end of the ashpit is opened. Specification 12534/08 is referred to.
