Ash-pans.-In a furnace for heating metal articles comprising a central fire-pan spaced from the enclosing casing 2 to form a peripheral downcast flue 3, the ash-pan is formed with ribs 11 which hold water supplied thereto from the container 12. Ashes, collecting.-An ash trap 14 is fitted on the flue 3. Draught, regulating.-Adjustable flaps 15 are fitted in the bottom wall of the casing 2 for regulating the draught through the furnace. Liquid and gaseous fuel fittings. - The firegrate may be replaced by a slab having a central opening for a burner nozzle which is positioned over the blast pipe 16 and a gas supply pipe 22.
