Refuse-destroying stoves; grates; ash-pits.-A domestic refuse-destructor consists of a base a, a body e, and a top f, and is fitted with a grate d supported by lugs j, k, a gas burner b, and plates n for conducting the ashes &c. to the ash-pan m. The refuse is charged into the body e through a door g, behind which, and in the top f, is the flue outlet h. The body e tapers upwards and inwards to prevent the refuse from caking and " bridging " across the body above the grate, and is provided with. a working-door to enable the material to be broken up. The central part d<1> of the grate, just above the burner b, is preferably of an inverted V-shape.
