113,824. Teale. L. H. March 6, 1917. Lighting fires.-A gas-burning fire-lighter for domestic fires comprises a trough-like deflector I fitted in the bottom grate so as to deflect upwards the flames. Gas is supplied by a nipple D which, when the device is applied to a low-fire stove, is fitted in the front E of the cleaning-pit. When applied to a raised-hearth fire-place, the nipple is fitted at the mouth of the deflector behind the ash-guard closing the front of the ash-pit. As shown in Fig. 1, a tube B is suspended from the underside of the plate or " trivet " A and between the nipple D and the deflect-or I, but this is omitted from the fitting designed for raised-hearth fireplaces.
