Walls.-A furnace wall of the kind comprising an inner wall embodying a tubular framework through which fluid is circulated and an outer wall separated from the inner wall by an air passage has the inner wall mounted on an open framework 66, Figs. 1, 2 and 3, which carries an upper wall section 16, a lower wall section 17 and a fluid cooled panel 18 of the form described in Specification 297,094 comprising vertical and inclined rows of recessed blocks 28 clamped to water tubes 23 by bolts passing through angle members 51. The angle members 51 have upper and lower T-shaped rings 58, 72 which engage with box-like housings 64 and 68 of upper and lower bracket members 19, 20 secured. to the open framework 66. The upper bracket members are triangular in shape and provided with horizontal flanges adapted to engage with rows of bricks forming part of the upper wall section. The lower edges of the upper bracket members are stepped to engage with the corresponding step-like portions of the fluid-cooled panel. The lower bracket members are also stepped. In the modification shown in Fig. 9, the open framework 115 carries channel beams 127, 137 to which are secured the bracket members 124, 136. The fluid-cooled panel 117 is retained in alignment with the upper and lower wall sections by the lugs 131, 134 engaging with the box-like portions of the bracket members. Instead of the blocks of the fluid cooled panel engaging with the water tubes by recesses as shown, recesses may be formed in the upper and lower edges of the blocks so that each block engages with two water tubes.
