Abstract
324,636. Moulton, C. Berrage-. Oct. 26, 1928. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Gramophone pick-ups; magnetic instruments. - The armature or stylus bar of a pick-up has a part of square or rectangular cross-section exter.ding through a bearing of similar section, the space between armature and bearing being packed with a rubber tube. The field windings 6, Fig. 1, of the U- shaped magnet 1 are mounted on the polepieces 2, 3, the air gap being adjustable by providing elongated holes for the securing screws 4, 5; the pole-pieces may be fitted with left- and right-hand threaded lugs and a correspondingly threaded adjusting screw, enabling both poles to be adjusted simultaneously. The rectangular bearing is formed by two L-shaped plates 7, 8, Fig. 2, the upper ends being secured to the magnet and the lower to the insulating plate 9, thus forming a rectangular channel. The armature is secured in the bearing by the transverse bar 17, the screws 18 serving to adjust the pressure on the rubber sleeve &c. The armature is a bar or tube of soft iron, having a flattened upper part 13 and a part 15 of square or rectangular section fitted with a rubber tube 16. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 260,148, 268,759, 278,967, 292,893, and 298,209.
