Abstract

300,837. Paterson, E. Feb. 10, 1928. Magnetic instruments. - Relates to sound-reproducing instruments, such as loud-speakers and telephones, of the type in which additional magnetic means are provided on the opposite side of the diaphragm from the usual electromagnetic means. According to the invention, a permanent magnet 7 is spaced above and located symmetrically opposite the centre of the diaphragm 5a, a passage communicating with the sound passage 5 being provided either through the magnet or wholly or partially surrounding it. As shown, the magnet is accommodated in an ebonite &c. casing 8 secured by screws 9 with distance-pieces 10 to the cap 4. Provision may be made for adjustment of the magnet 7 towards or away from the diaphragm.
