Hose pipes.-Canvas hose pipes 10, such as fire-hoses, are dried by causing a current of hot air from a fan 2, having an outlet 8, to pass therethrough. The air, which may be dried prior to entering the fan by passage over calcium chloride, is heated by resistances 4, disposed within the inlet 7 of the fan and provided with terminals 5, 6 for connection to the supply circuit of the motor 3 thereof.
