Cellulose esters and ethers and cellulose solutions, processes for making filaments from. -- Hollow artificial silk, horsehair, bristles &c. are made by extruding a cellulosic solution such as viscose, or a solution of a cellulose ester or ether, into a precipitating bath or into an evaporative atmosphere, at a slow rate, for example, at a rate of spinning of 0.025-0.1-5 meters per minute. The size of the extrusion orifices will vary with the vernier of the filaments, and the rate of spinning will vary inversely with the weight of the filaments. The filaments, after formation. are preferably drawn out.
