Cellulose esters and ethers, processes for making filaments from.-Coarse artificial filaments such as artificial straw, bristles, &c., are produced by extruding or forcing through orifices into an evaporative atmosphere, solutions of cellulose acetate or other organic acid esters or of cellulose ethers, of at least 3 per cent strength, for example of 40 or higher percentage strength. By the use of these high concentrations, the extruded filament is able to support the weight of the heavy thread. By keeping the temperature of spinning solution below the boiling point of the solvent, smoother and rounder filaments are obtained. The filaments may be drawn out after extrusion.
