Abstract
316,561. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Thelen, J. S.). July 30, 1928, [Convention date]. R÷ntgen-ray tubes.-The anode of an X-ray tube is screwed to the side of a tank enclosing the tube and furnished with an opening through which a stem attached to a heat-absorbing mass and fitting into the anode, which is hollow, can be withdrawn and replaced by a cool stem. The tank 10, which may contain oil, may be corrugated and made of aluminium, and provided with a window for the emission of X-rays. The anode 13 of the tube 15 screws on to a boss 16 on the wall of the tank, a sealing-washer 35 being provided. The anode is formed with a hollow 17 into which fits a stem attached to a block 19 screwing into a socket 18 in the side of the tank 10 and provided with a heat-insulated handle 20. The anode and the secondary of the transformer supplying current to the tube are grounded on the tank 10.
