Abstract
419,930. Attaching door handles to spindles. KIRKCALDY, J., Letham Fues, Leven, Fifeshire. June 14, 1934, No. 17584. [Class 44.] In a door handle fitting wherein indoor and outdoor handles 1, 1<a> are respectively retained on a polygonal spindle 2 by axial screws 3, 4, the outdoor handle 1<a> locks the screw 4 against interference by engaging a short polygonal portion 4b on the shank of the screw 4. To assemble the fitting the handle 1<a> is placed on the spindle 2 and the screw 4 is screwed into the spindle until the polygonal shank portion 4b of the screw 4 is up to the face of the handle whereupon the handle is slid down so that its polygonal socket 1<b> engages the polygonal shank 4b. The spindle 2 is then pulled through the door, the handle 1 applied and the screw 3 screwed in till the handles butt on the rose plates. The handles are metallic shells the handle 1 having a polygonal tubular member 6 but the handle 1<a> merely has polygonal sockets in its end walls. Specification 400,003 is referred to.
