Abstract
496,021. Discharge lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 14, 1938, No. 7886. Convention date, March 13, 1937. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XI] In lamps with double walled envelopes the two walls 10, 12 are sealed at one end to a common closure 11 and at the other to separate closures 11<1>, 13, so that the two compartments may be independently evacuated and gas filled. A spring 14 makes contact between the closures 11<1>, 13. The electrodes are carried on the closures 11, 13. The left hand end of the inner tube 12 as shown may be supported by a perforated annulus from the wall of the outer tube 10. By provision of nipples on the tube 10 or on the end closures cooling water may be circulated through the outer compartment. The end closures and walls may be formed as described in Specifications 428,414, 452,191, [both in Group XI], and 485,329.
