Abstract
315,180. Hohn, M. P. E., Halank, F., and Universelle Cigarettenmaschinen- Fabrik J. C. M³ller & Co. Nov. 26, 1928. Tobacco, loosening.-Raw or cut tobacco fed into the hopper 3 passes into the air suction or pressure conduit B, having an enlargement C above a receptacle 19; then through a sinuous pipe 5 into a second chamber 27 above a receptacle 28, and to a chamber 31 containing a sieve 33 travelling past the air outlet 35. The sieve 33 may be cylindrical. The loosened tobacco, separated from heavy particles in the chambers C, 27, and from dust which passes through the sieve 33, falls into the upper part of the chamber 36, and may be removed by opening the flap valves 37, 39 alternately. Baffle plates and volume adjusters 20, 21, 26, 29 are placed in the chambers C, 27. The wall 7 of the hopper 3 has an extension 8 to take the initial cuttings from the inlet 1. Normally the extension 8 is closed by the flap valve 10. The hopper 3 and its outlet 4 are of rectangular cross-section and the latter while remaining with its longer axis in alignment with the conduit B is inclined in the direction of air-flow. The part of the pipe 5 within the casing 23 may be rectangular with internally projecting baffles. Specification 297,378 is referred to.
