Abstract

257,121. Johnston, J. M. T., and Davies, J. E. May 19, 1925. Density separators;; discharging.- A centrifugal dustseparator comprises a centrifugal fan 9 the volute casing of which is provided with louvre openings 5 which face the direction of rotation of dust-laden gas and through which dust passes to a collecting chamber 11 surrounding the fan-casing. The louvre openings may be parallel to the fan axis or at an angle thereto and may be adjustable in width either individually or simultaneously by means of slidable plates 15 which overlap the unbent edges of the openings. For simultaneous adjustment these plates may be secured to chains surrounding the fan-casing and attached to bolts outside the casing. The dust is removed from the collecting chamber 11 by a, worm 13. A throttle valve 37 is fitted in the gas outlet. Specification 236,452 is referred to.
