Density separators. - The rotary separator and air cleaner described in the parent Specification is modified by shaping the vanes on the rotary element to produce a counter pressure to the passage of the gas. Some of the impurities fall by gravity when the gas has passed the inlet O, and the gas then passes between the baffles m, n. A perforated deflector disc g on the shaft f rotates with the fan element having vanes h which produce the counter pressure. The dust is thrown back by the vanes or the disc, and the clean gas passes to the outlet, d. An outlet pipe j may be provided for any dust which collects in the annular space e round the fan element. Two or more sets of vanes may be used and the perforated elements may be conical in form.
