Stoppers with valves.-Containers, of which the internal volume can be controlled, for example by a collapsable body, are provided with a closure-member or stopper e, Figs. 1 and 3, which is adapted to pass through and close the discharge orifice of the container, the stopper having a shoulder d, which is extended in bell shape or flared shape. To extract the contents, the projecting part c<1> of the stopper is pressed down, so that the material in the container or tube rises above the shoulder d, and the tube is then pinched, so that the material above the shoulder is extruded by the closing movement of the stopper. The downward movement of the stopper may be limited by a shoulder. The quantity of material extruded depends on the size of the shoulder d and the distance of its edge from the walls of the tube. The stopper may have a. shouldered part k, Fig. 4, hinged or otherwise to retain some of the contents of the tube, which may be wiped off. The stopper may be indented, as shown in Fig. 8, so as to engage resiliently in the tube outlet. A groove may be formed in the stopper to receive a U-shaped clip n, Fig. 14, to prevent the stopper from slipping back into the tube, or a shoulder movable in a vertical groove in the tube, and adapted to be turned out of register therewith, may be used for this purpose. A resilient cover p, Fig. 8, engaging a recess in the neck of the tube, may be provided.
