Abstract
311,542. Norman, J. W. E. April 30, 1928. Moulding roads in situ.-Roads are cast in situ between boundary moulds formed of channel-section bars which act as depth gauges and allow the reinforcement to protrude through so that the cast sections are bonded together. The moulds are formed of upper and lower channel sections 1, 2 joined by end and intermediate brackets 17 so that the flanges 3, 4 present a working face, the intermediate space being partially or wholly filled by strips 5. When used to allow reinforcement to protrude through, a single strip 5 is used adjustable by slots and bolts on the brackets, and to allow of better bonding of the road sections a core-bar 13 is used to form a recess in one section of the cast material. The mould sections may be joined end to end to form a continuous run. The other flat surfaces of the moulds may be used as gauges for different depths, and are shown at the top of Fig. 1 as used for moulding kerbs, a removable core 15 being used to form the rounded edge to the kerb.
